Sinopsis: Holly (Drew Barrymore) llega a Los Ángeles con la esperanza de escapar de la pesadilla en la que se ha convertido su vida. Está convencida de que está siendo suplantada por una criatura que habla y tiene la misma apariencia que ella. Una criatura fantasmal que acabó brutalmente con la vida de su madre y que se guía por el odio y cuyo único deseo es destruir a Holly y apropiarse de su vida.
