Sinopsis: 1926. La Primera Guerra Mundial (1914-1918) ha popularizado la aviación, y algunos pilotos, una vez licenciados, intentan ganarse la vida con espectáculos aéreos cada vez más peligrosos debido a la competencia. Waldo Pepper es uno de ellos y sus acrobacias son cada vez más arriesgadas. Esto le crea problemas, porque las autoridades necesitan convencer al público de que el avión es un medio de transporte seguro a fin de impulsar el desarrollo de la aviación comercial. En estas circunstancias, el cine es la mejor salida para Waldo.
