Sinopsis: Un grupo de 'amigos' de Texas, Miller Nalls (Michael Sarrazin), Little Bit (Jan-Michael Vincent), Willie Bill Bearden (Harrison Ford), Todo McLean (Don Stroud), Eubie Bells (Michelle Burns) y J.C. Sutton (Paul Petersen), dirigidos por el capitán Burnett (James Caan) deciden 'alistarse' como voluntarios al ejército confederado en mitad de la Guerra Civil y se hacen llamar los "Concho county comanches'. El camino a Shiloh (Tennessee( donde se va a desarrollar la batalla más grande, es largo y lleno de peligros. A medida que van avanzando, el destino de cada uno quedará marcado, alejando los unos de los otros y todo resulta ser más duro de lo que habían imaginado.
